ACHRON is the world's first meta-time strategy game where players and units can jump to and play at different times simultaneously and independently. The game has been in development for many years, but due to the huge challenges and computational requirements needed to simulate the game at multiple points in time, it was only recently announced during the Experimental Gameplay session at GDC.
In this 1h30 interview, you'll hear from Chris Hazard, the programmer and designer behind the game. He'll share some of the tips and tricks he used to make sure the whole simulation & AI fast enough on modern computers. You'll also hear how the AI is structured architecturally, and how the different systems work. Chris also has a strong background in game theory, so he'll share some innovative techniques he uses to make sure the game is well balanced.
